This lesson offers the opportunity for creative writing. Using the Kit Bag as a stimulus for a story. Where will it go? Who receives it? This allows for some character description and development.

Pupils can build on their prior knowledge of narrative structure and style.

Purpose of study:

This task is designed to allow students to make use of their work on descriptive writing to extend the descriptions and work within a different structure; narrative writing.

English:

  • Producing clear and coherent text: writing effectively for different purposes and audiences: to describe, narrate; selecting vocabulary, grammar, form and structural and organisational features judiciously to reflect audience, purpose and context; using language imaginatively and creatively; using information provided by others to write in different forms.
  • Writing for impact: creating emotional impact, using language creatively, imaginatively.
  • Write a short Narrative. Using a memorable structure and descriptive language to interest the reader.
